How to Bid
Our auctions take place online via the Livebid.cz platform — you can bid from your computer, tablet or phone, from anywhere.
If you prefer to participate in person or bid by phone, contact us in advance and we will arrange everything.
Would you like to see the artwork in person before bidding?
Before each auction, we hold a pre-auction exhibition at our gallery in Hradčany (Prague Castle district), where all works are available for personal viewing. Individual viewings of specific artworks can also be arranged outside exhibition dates.
How it works
Registration — once and for all
Registration on Livebid.cz takes just a few minutes and is valid for all our auctions. As a legal requirement, we verify your identity — a photograph of your ID card or passport is sufficient. Your data is processed in accordance with GDPR and is never shared with third parties.
We typically verify your registration within 24 hours (on business days usually the same day) and send your login details by email.
Login
Enter your login name (the email you registered with) and password — and you are ready to bid. Everything takes place directly on the Livebid.cz platform, from your phone or computer.
Bidding
You can bid in two ways — by placing a bid directly or by setting a limit.
Direct bid
If you are the first person interested in a lot, you start at the starting price. If the lot is already being bid on, the system will offer you the next amount according to the minimum bid increments. You can also enter a higher amount. However, other bidders may outbid you — so it is important to monitor the auction.
Limit bidding
You set the maximum amount you are willing to pay for the artwork in advance. The system then automatically bids on your behalf against other bidders, always only the minimum necessary, until your limit is reached. If you are the only bidder, you win the lot at the starting price.
Auction close
The auction ends at its scheduled time. If a bid is placed within the final 5 minutes, the time is automatically extended by another 5 minutes — and this repeats with each subsequent bid. This rule prevents so-called sniping (last-second bidding) and ensures all participants have time to consider their final offers.
You can check whether you have won directly on the auction page. A list of your won items appears in your profile and you will receive an email confirmation.
Buyer's premium
A premium of 25% including VAT is added to the hammer price. This premium is standard on both the Czech and international auction markets and applies equally to all buyers.
Example: you win an artwork for CZK 100,000 → the total amount due is CZK 125,000.
Payment can be made by bank transfer, QR code, or in person at the gallery (cash or card). We will send you the invoice by email.
Collection and shipping
After the auction ends, we will contact you with payment instructions. You can collect your artwork in person at our gallery in Hradčany — we will be happy to show you the piece once more in the calm of our premises.
Prefer delivery? We arrange shipping via specialised art transport. Flat rate: CZK 500 for paintings up to 50 × 70 cm including the frame. Larger formats are priced individually.
Binding bids
Both bids and limit settings are binding — winning an item creates the obligation to pay for and collect it. This rule protects both sellers and buyers and is standard across all auction platforms.
