WE BLEED GOLD
Exhibition

as part of Art Week Prague 2025

September 15 – 28, 2025

The exhibition We Bleed Gold by Phila Primus and Brice Mensah offers a view of the body not as an object, but as a vessel of stories. Phila’s organic reliefs and Brice’s garment-based pieces create a space where femininity and transformation take on tangible form. The dialogue between the two artists pulses with both strength and tenderness. Here, blood is not red – but gold.

Phila Helene Primus (*1991)

is a multimedia artist, poet, and lyricist of Czech-German-American descent, currently living and working in Prague. Her work draws from deep introspection and an exploration of the relationship between body and consciousness, situated at the intersection of biological, symbolic, and cultural meanings. Through collages, assemblages, reliefs, and glass objects, she explores unconscious layers of experience and the tension between freedom and determinism.

Her work resonates with the legacy of surrealism, characterized by imaginative sensitivity and contemplation. Active since 2012,

she made her debut at the Rencontres d'Arles de la Photographie festival and held her first solo exhibition 76% Silence in 2014 at Artinbox Gallery in Prague. Her subsequent solo shows include Inside Out (Galerie Hřivnáč, 2015), Lůnění (Galerie Caesar, 2016), Being Shines (Kampus Hybernská, 2023), and Pop up! (Gabriel Loci, 2023). She has also participated in numerous group exhibitions.

Brice Mensah (*1977)

is a fashion designer and graduate of the University of Art and Design in Basel and UMPRUM in Prague. He has worked with, among others, the renowned Swiss fashion house Akris, and was awarded the Top Styl Designer of the Year title in 2009.

JMensah’s work is defined by attention to detail, precise construction, and a refined yet expressive sense of feminine elegance. He designs for women who are aware of their individuality and strength – women who perceive fashion as a way to connect with their bodies and lifestyle.

His signature collection Le jardin de ma grand-mère draws on childhood memories of time spent in his grandmother’s garden. Minimalist silhouettes and clean lines contrast with the expressive embroidery of artist Zlata Lamrová, inspired by the imaginative world of childhood. This is Lamrová’s first collaboration on such a fully developed fashion collection.

Zlata Lamrová

is a textile artist, fashion designer, and educator, known for her detailed embroidery inspired by the subtle beauty of nature. Her work has been exhibited at The Chemistry Gallery, Museum Montanelli, and in regional galleries across the Czech Republic. In 2023, she was nominated for the EDIDA award by Elle Decoration magazine.
