A dialogue across generations, styles and media
The exhibition offers a concentrated view of artists who each treat the artwork as a carrier of a powerful emotional charge. It is conceived as a dialogue across generations, visual styles and media – from painting through object to glass. Visitors will encounter the organic abstraction of Jan Kaláb, the unmistakable aesthetic of Radovan Pauch and the expressive registers of Čeněk Pražák. The strong visual foundation and the notional centre of gravity of the whole exhibition is formed by an extensive body of work by Eva Fišerová.
From raw figuration to elemental colour energy
The path through the exhibition leads the viewer from the rawness and darker figuration of Michal Janovský, through the monumental forms of Vojtěch Kovařík, to a dynamic dialogue with the elemental colour energy of Michael Rittstein. This painterly force is balanced and complemented by the playful yet socially critical objects of Krištof Kintera. The overall sensory experience and the complexity of the exhibition are heightened by the distinctive, clearly defined visions of Zdeněk Šorf and Adam Štěch. Also represented are Marek Číhal and the married duo Libenský & Brychtová, associated with the tradition of Czech art glass.
The exhibition thus brings together established names of Czech post-war and contemporary art with artists of a younger generation, offering an overview of how the energy and intensity of visual expression shifts across periods and media.
