About the artist:
Pasta Oner, born Zdeněk Řanda, is one of the most prominent figures on the Czech contemporary urban art scene. His work blends pop art principles with cartoon aesthetics and current visual culture, intentionally diverging from dominant post-conceptual approaches. He primarily works with acrylic painting, three-dimensional objects, sculptures, installations, and large-scale murals in public spaces.
His distinctive visual language satirizes today’s pop culture – a world of wealth, sexuality, faith, luxury brands, and consumerist beauty.
He has participated in dozens of group exhibitions and has realized over fifteen solo projects.
His current exhibition, Ermitage, is on view at the Municipal House in Prague. Outside his studio practice, he has represented the Czech Republic at international cultural events – notably with the Candy Shop project at Expo 2010 in Shanghai and collaborations with the Czech embassy and museums in Brazil. He also actively supports a number of charitable initiatives.
About the artwork:
Diamond (2020) is a quintessential example of Oner’s work with the iconography of luxury and material culture. The image of a diamond – a universal symbol of wealth, prestige, and desire – is rendered in a pop-art aesthetic using silkscreen techniques. This creates a deliberate tension between high and low, between artistic value and consumerist fetish.
The combination of acrylic and silkscreen emphasizes Oner’s signature visual language – enabling him to work with the flatness of the image while producing a dynamic and visually striking composition.
Note:
Excellent condition. Attractive format, ideal for both private and corporate collections.
A strong piece from a key period in the artist’s career, fully showcasing his distinctive blend of pop art and urban aesthetics. Pasta Oner is one of the most closely followed Czech artists of the younger generation, with growing international recognition.
